Blount BBQ Bash This Weekend

This weekend it the Blount BBQ Bash charity event. If you are in the East Tennessee area, stop by on Saturday and enjoy a great BBQ contest, wacky canoe races, and live music. This event has raised $50,000 for charities in its first two years!Alexis and I are volunteering for this event so I won't be around for the next few days. We'll be helping with set up, check in, logistics, support, and vending. But I've also landed my choice assignment to assist a well known BBQ expert during the event. I'll blog about it later but I am excited (Shush Brandi! Don't tell who it is or I'll delete your comment:) ).

  4. Hi Chris--good luck with the BBQ! Can't wait to read all about it! I'm wondering if you'd be willing to offer suggestions--my youngest is graduating from HS next month. As auspicious as this occasion will be, he has also enrolled in the delayed entry program and will be off to bootcamp in the fall. I'm looking for recommendations from you, and your readers if they would be so generous, to help me plan the perfect menu for a casual, open-house type of party. The food needs to be memorable--I want him to think back fondly about the love and happy memories of this gathering where ever his travels may take him. He is generally a very simple young man, could live on fast food nuggets and fries (no catsup or sauce), but that's not the food of love memory I want him to take with him. I have a grill, smoker, refrigerators that can be brought outside, steam tables, and access to a professional kitchen. Any ideas? Thanks!

  5. More famous than Paul Kirk? He's a K.C. based guy, but his books are my BB-Q bibles...

  7. I am jealous to say the least! All we are having around here is a bunch of rainy days, so I will have to create my own event! Have fun you two, and thanks for reminding me about 'Sawmill gravy'...Oh God, Oh God I am with you on that one!
