SSAD

So I was looking at my favorite patch of basil this week and I was thinking of how in a few weeks or a month or two, my herbs will start dying off for the season. It made me SSAD.
My cooking is always so much better in the summer while fresh herbs abound. I'm going to try keeping them going inside this year by our well lit french door. It's worth a shot.

  2. I was thinking about keeping my herbs indoors this winter too. My fingers are crossed about how well they will fare.

  4. My wife got an "Air Garden" for Christmas from my son- and they really work! Basil has been transplanted outdoors, and chives came out well! Look it up on the Internet- it really is kind of neat, when you live in a frozen wasteland like Michigan!

  5. Indoors is good. And if you have a cat, she will keep them watered and fertilized for you all winter.

  6. Cracking up here in my neck of the woods! Hey if you find a pot of basil on your door step, I am coming down that way next month...how many pounds did you need? Uh, I mean plants...and you cannot smoke it either...hmmm have you ever smoked with basil? Now I am really curious...

  7. awwww....not looking forward to fresh garden herb detox, are ya? I started basil last year by seed and then transplanted (way too late) to the outdoors and apparently fed the snails.

  9. It's a great idea to extend the season with indoor herbs and I have often consodered hydroponics myself.
