It's Football Time, ya'll !

College football started this weekend which means tailgating, finger foods, and maybe an adult beverage or two.

For a quick lunch today I deep fried some hot wings and onion rings.

Lord of The Wings will snicker, because I breaded my wings. For a wing purist like LOTW, that is the BBQ equivalent of boiling ribs.

I tried using panko in the breading. A bit too much texture, in my opinion but Alexis loved them that way. The sauce was a medium sauce that was half butter and half Fire Ant Juice. Excellent flavor!

What is your favorite food for game day?

  1. Those onion rings look perfect Chris. I have a couple of favorites and traditions for football games. Wings with two sauces, hot sauce and bbq sauce. And when it gets cold, a big pot of chili simmering on the stove. yum.

  3. Nachos with a capitol NACHOS! But those hot wings and onion rings look pretty darned good - even if you did bread them. :)
I love the name of your hot sauce.

  5. I made salsa... I love onion rings but mine are always wimpy. Yours look great as usual and breaded wings look excellent to me.

  6. Yep, it's that time again. Everyone wore their team shirt to school on Friday, and I am shunned because I have no team. Plus I have no flag waving on my car antennae. I am an outcast.

Favorite? Dips! I love dips!! Oh wait. No. Wings! Wings!! I love wings!!! Oh, wait, poppers too! Let's just say what do I not love?? That'll be easier.

Happy Labor Day Weekend Chris - hope it's a good one for ya!

  8. I'm more of a dip girl. I look at football season as a way to make and eat as many different kinds of dips as possible...Mexican dip, spinach and artichoke dip, fried onion dip, guacamole. It's all game.

  9. Good looking game grub there Chris. I don't know that I have a favorite, but I could easily adopt this one.

  12. Did you know that on my death bed one of the foods I want is onion rings? I want them just like you made them - crispy on the outside and tender onion on the inside. Mmmmm good.

I think the wings look tasty too.
