This is a fun BBQ cook-off and charity event. I volunteered extensively in 2007 and had a fantastic time. One of the things I like about this event is that the $12,000 in prize money is split between the winners and a bona fide charity of their choose. For example, if a team wins the $1,500 for first place in butts, the team gets $750 and the charity of the teams choice gets $750. In addition, each year, the proceeds from the event go to a designated charity (this year it is Blount County Campus). The first two years raised over $50,000 for the previous two charities.There is still time to enter a team until April 10, 2009. There are also opportunities to serve as judges and volunteers.
