August Giveaway: Masterbuilt Electric Digital Smoker

ENTRIES CLOSED!!!!

I am thrilled about my August Giveaway because it is my best one yet.

Just in time for Labor Day and leading into the holidays, Masterbuilt is sponsoring the giveaway of their 30" Electric Digital Smoker, that's a $299 value!

First, a little bit about Masterbuilt. They are a second generation, family owned company that has been making quality smoking, grilling, and frying equipment since 1973. You can find their products at major retailers such as Lowes, Home Depot, Walmart, and Gander Mountain. They also make cargo, bike carriers, and other hitch mounted accessories.

Here is what I like about the Masterbuilt Electrical Digital Smoker:

  • The Masterbuilt Electric Digital Smoker is a great fit for most of my readers who like bbq but are intimidated about the thought of firing up a big smoker. If you can use an oven you can use this smoker, it's electronically controlled with a digital keypad.
  • This would be a nice addition even if you already have a grill (or like me, have a Big Green Egg, an offset smoker, and a grill).
  • Even though it doesn't take up a lot of space, it has 4 racks of capacity so you can cook an entire meal on it like Don McLemore does in this video (skip to the 5 minute mark if you just want to see the unit in action)

  • It has a temperature range of 100-275f so you can not only do the typical low and slow bbq of ribs, butts, brisket and chicken, you can also do some cold smoking like cheese, spices, and salmon by adding ice to the water pan.
  • It has a water pan for keeping the cooking chamber moist during cooking.
  • The drip pan is removable for easy cleaning.
  • It has a remote probe meat thermometer that is integrated with the control pad so you can tell the meat temps without opening and closing the smoker.
  • It has a window so you can see how things are cooking without opening and closing the smoker.
  • You can refill the wood chips from the side access chute without opening and closing the smoker. (Seeing a patten here? Well designed.)
I am excited to be able to host this giveaway because one of you is going to get this easy to use and feature rich smoker just in time to cook up a storm for Labor Day weekend, the football season and the holidays!!!!!! I'm just disappointed that I can't enter and win!

  1. I've been wanting to do some cold smoking, but of their recipes, I'd try the smoked tuna as I've never done it and I may try some of their others even if I don't win.

  2. What an awesome giveaway! The first thing I'd make is smoked baby back ribs! Though I just had a friend come back from visiting family, and their tradition is smoked pork butt--a dubious name, but I hear it's awesome. ;) I love your blog, Chris.

  3. What a great giveaway to host! I have always wanted a smoker :) If I win this smoker, the first thing I'd make in it would definitely be the pork or baby back ribs. YUM!

  4. If I win I'd love to make Smoked Salmon with Peppercorn Crust. Smoked mullet is popular here too. I'd definitely throw some mullet in there!

  5. DEFINITELY ribs. Or brisket. Living on Long Island, good barbecue is hard to come by.

    ReplyDelete
  6. I'd do ribs to christen this cooker. As a single dad, who's grill rusted out last summer, I've tried every possible way to make my kid's favorite summer dish, ribs in the oven, but nothing can ever take the place of slow, smoked ribs. I'd also take a crack at pork bellies, I'm a bacon foodie and love mixing sweets with the most perfect salt in the world, Bacon!! bigjerseymike@gmail.com

  7. Chris, I am drooling over this smoker!!! A brisket is a definite if I win. This is an awesome giveaway!

  8. Wow... What a giveaway. I'm looking for an upgrade to my current smoker (it's on its last legs) For the ceremonial first smoke, I would do a pork butt or two. The smoked salmon with peppercorn crust does sound good however.

  9. Oh, I'll play along, but I always just seem to increase the odds for someone else. I would love one of these. Let the manufacturer know I am willing to review one...

  18. The first thing that I would make in this smoker is ribs for my wife. We're expecting our first child, and she's not had much of an appetite for the past seven weeks. The only thing that she tends to crave are my famous St. Louis ribs that I smoke and finish with my homemade bbq sauce. Due to the time and prep, I can only make these every couple weeks. With the electric digital smoker, I could make them every day!!

Great timing on this giveaway! Been Egging for a long time and I have been surfing looking for beef jerky recipes. Which led me to cold smoking pages (cheese and fish), then to "how to build a cold smoker (paint can, HVAC elbow, metal dryer vent) out of an Egg pages.... This Masterbuilt unit would leave me way more time to smoke rather than "build".

  127. If I win this smoker, the first thing I will make is hickory smoked beef back ribs with a good coating of rub and brought to room temp. I would apply a vinegar based mop sauce throughout the 250 degree process and serve a dipping sauce on the side.
Thanks Chris for a very informative blog and this product looks very interesting.

  132. Thanks for putting up the contest. If I had one of these babies I would try the smoked cornish hens with wild rice from the website. Looks like a nice recipe. With the lower temperatures in this smoker I would love to try a few types of smoked salts.

  135. I'd think it's a law you'd have to start with ribs....followed closely by smoking cheese and potatoes for some smoked cheddar mashed potatoes.

  137. The video makes things look very simple/efficient.

I'd treat the wife with the smoker's first production...some smoked cheese to accompany a nice bottle of Shiraz. Smoking cheese is something I'd like to try...and this looks to allow that opportunity.

    Thanks!
