FTC Blog Regulations

The Federal Trade Regulation announced this week that they will begin applying guidance for Use of Endorsements and Testimonials in Advertising to social media such as blogging.

Long story short: If you get free stuff and write about it, say so.

  2. Could you clarify the sexual favors thing -- who gets them? The poster or the postee? Just so I get what I'm entitled to.

  11. Good to know...but, as way of clarification, since you do write a food blog, didn't you mean sexual FLAVOR? I'll assume that was a typo...and was there at any time any mention of "tit for tat?"

  12. First I almost choked on my lunch when I read your disclaimer! ;) Second, very interesting. Are there a lot of people out there claiming to pay for free product?

  13. Well duhhh! Love your disclaimer, I just might have to borrow it if I blog about products I haven't been compensated for mentioning - or maybe we should just start on insisting compensation if we talk about a product we like. I like that even better! :-)
