I have started using one when I bake a whole chicken, just because I&amp;#39;ve had some real varied results when I go by time.  (I did just buy an oven thermometer to check the oven calibration...) Otherwise I go by smell and feel. I have two or three of the clip on your shirt ones for chili contests. I have some built ins on my smokers that I supplement with oven thermometers I have checked and trust. Did you mention to clean off the the ones that get covered in smoke film and grease? Wipe them often, and keep them clean- for accuracy.. I&amp;#39;ve never had issues with finding a replacement, so that&amp;#39;s good. I use it a lot, and also encourage everyone I know to use them with meat, esp. hamburgers. I&amp;#39;ve been around other cooks who insist that their burgers are done only to bite into them and find they&amp;#39;re still pink inside. For me, using a thermometer is just smart cooking. It&amp;#39;s an expensive one with all kinds of bells &amp;amp; whistles, and I generally really like it.  But I don&amp;#39;t often use it and I don&amp;#39;t use a thermometer enough to invest in another one.  I agree that the cord gets tangled in your drawer and they can be a little annoying to use on the stove-top.
