Chris! This looks like it could be one of my fave appetizers!! I love mushrooms so so so much. I usually only eat button and portobello, but I've had shitake at restaurants. I think I'd pretty much love all fresh kinds. I haven't tried dried, but I wasn't too much of a jarred fan. Never marinated my mushrooms though! I need to get on it!

Chris, is there any foolproof way of knowing exactly when the mushrooms are *done*? Whenever I pop them on the grill, they turn out too shriveled and dry for my taste, and checking whether they've browned is seldom successful - at least for me.

If you had a different to grill some button mushrooms, how much more time you'd think it would require?

Chris- One of the reasons I enjoy your blog so much is because you are so thorough and concise. I can always tell you've put a lot of thought into your posts.

These appetizers looks great. Lots of different textures on one stick.

As for mushrooms, I love dried mushrooms. So much flavor in those babies (especially with beef).
