Fortunately, we are all safe and sound.
Egg Central took a pounding from large hail.
I'm pretty sure my First Up shelter is toast, ya think?
This is about 30 minutes afterward, they were bigger when the fell.
Having lived through this in 2002 I know that the roof of our house is totaled. Another round is headed this way right now, just minutes away.
But given what hit Tuscaloosca today, what's going on in the rest of the world, I still feel lucky and fortunate. Stay safe everyone.
UPDATE: Second round finished it off but we are well.
Chris, I was at the gym and watching the subtitled televisions and saw that you were right in the path of terrible violent storms. Big sigh that you're all safe and sound. Being from Kansas, I know how frightening these storms are, and how destructive they can be. In other words the forecasts of "large hail and damaging winds" always have me positioned near the basement door.
ReplyDeleteWOW! That's unbelievable. We had tornado and hail warnings here too. We were lucky in downtown Toronto, just torrential rain, but the rest of Ontario got hit. It looks like the bad weather is everywhere! Glad you're okay.
ReplyDeleteStay safe, Chris!
ReplyDeleteThose are some big hail stones my friend. Stay safe indeed.
ReplyDeleteI do not miss the south- the hail, tornadoes, and big bugs...sorry to hear this Nibble...hope you guys keep safe!
ReplyDeleteOh man, I'm sorry Chris. That hail is unbelievable. I don't think I've ever seen it that big before. I'm really sorry to hear about the damage but I'm very happy that you're all safe and I hope it stays that way. Take care!
ReplyDeleteHoly Hail Batman, Iv'e never seen balls that big...
ReplyDeleteHuncker down.
Our prayres are with you Chris. OMG.
ReplyDeleteTony
I had been wondering about you and your family so decided to check. So sorry about the damage, but glad you are safe. These storms have just been terrible.
ReplyDeleteOh goodness, I'd say that cover definitely is toast! That's some big ol' hail!
ReplyDeleteShoot Chris.. glad you and family are okay!!
ReplyDeleteI hate to see that Chris and especially about your roof. We had about 5 cells past thru here (heading right up US411) and all with tornado warnings - had lots of wind and rain and a brief period of small hail, but not aware of any damages. Hope the damages turn out to be limited to your canopy.
ReplyDeleteOh my god I'm so glad you're okay Chris! Stay safe, will ya?
ReplyDeleteSorry about your roof, man. Sucks.
ReplyDeleteEveryone I know has car or home damage- glad you and the fam are safe and sound! We got minimal hail in Ftn City, but the BH is at work (UT) and says campus got hammered. Still... not as bad as Tuscaloosa, you're right! Hope Egg Central is up and running again soon!
ReplyDeleteGlad everyone is safe. That storm was awful to watch.
ReplyDeleteOH man, how scarey! I'm glad to hear everybody is okay...and I'm actually surprised that you don't wheel the eggs inside in inclement weather ;)
ReplyDeleteWow...that hail is unreal! Sorry to hear about egg central but glad you and the fam are ok!! I'll try and send some sunny weather your way :)
ReplyDeleteYikes. I can't even imagine hail that size! I see the green egg is unscathed... GREG
ReplyDeleteWow, that is incredible, glad that you are safe man.
ReplyDeleteWOW, that must have been scary.
ReplyDeleteSo glad you are ok. We dodged the damage as well. It was all north of us.
ReplyDeleteGlad you are OK..Living in Oklahoma we have had our roof replaced twice in 5 years. Our eggs came out fine
ReplyDeleteOh man. Glad to hear you guys are safe! Hopefully. Sending best wishes to all affected by the storms.
ReplyDeleteChris, I'm so glad you are safe and that your eggs are intact! Take care buddy.
ReplyDeleteoh my gosh, i'm so glad you guys are safe, but i'm so sorry about the damage. that is some vicious hail. take care of yourselves, we're all thinking of you!
ReplyDeleteOh sh**. I am sorry. The storms have been devastating. Your family is safe, that is most important.
ReplyDeleteVelva
Wow! I'm so happy that y'all are safe, Chris. I was thinking about you the other day when I heard of the storm swarm.
ReplyDeleteI've never seen spiked (saw blade) hail like that.
Stay safe!
John
Happy to hear you are ok - but sorry to hear your egg shelter is gone. And possibly the roof. Stay safe!
ReplyDeleteOMG! Seriously, we just don't have "weather" our here so hail that much bigger than a quarter just blows my mind. Wow. Stay safe!!
ReplyDeleteChris, that's just unbelievable! I sure hope everything is ok since I noticed this was from a couple days ago and another round was on the way. As long as you and your family are safe the rest is small stuff!
ReplyDeleteJust looked again and saw your update at the bottom - so glad you are all safe!
ReplyDeleteI wish I had an Egg to worry about.
ReplyDeleteWow - late to the "party" as usual. This looks awful, Chris. Being from west Texas, I've seen my share of nasty hail storms and know how scary and damaging they can be. Glad to hear you're all safe. That was a nasty bunch of weather.
ReplyDeleteH.O.L.Y. crap! I am so glad you guys are all safe.
ReplyDeleteHoly moly those hails are huge! So glad to hear you are safe and well! And you have such a positive outlook on it :)
ReplyDeleteSo glad the egg is safe - and you and yours, too! I had no idea hail could be so humongous! Just so you know, we don't have hail in Seattle...or tornadoes...or hurricanes...and the house next door is for sale and you could buy it and cook on your egg on the new deck every night and I would only bother you occasionally/daily/whenever you fired it up. xo, Nan
ReplyDeleteWow Chris, Larry told me you received a lot of damage from the storms the other night. We received the large hail like you did but not in the massive quantities you received.
ReplyDeleteWe did miss you, Alexis and Tevor Saturday. Hope to you all of you on June 19th.
Wow...I've been MIA for a few days and stopped by to see what you have been cooking up. I am so sorry to see that your home was so severely damaged! I'm so glad you and your family are ok- everything else can be fixed or replaced! I wish you all the best in your repairs!
