Man vs Food: Knoxville

I would never eat 95% of the challenges that Adam Richman takes on in his Man vs. Food series on Travel Channel. There is just way to much heat (spice) and heap (massive quantities).

But I enjoy watching Man Vs Food. I like learning about the places Adam visits, especially the joints before the one with the challenge. I kind of feel bad for Richman when he has beads of sweat on his forehead from eating something with bhut jolokia but I have to laugh at his whacky facial expressions and phrases.

Anyway, Adam came through Knoxville and the Man Vs. Food: Knoxville episode is this Wednesday, October 13th at 9PM EST. (Photos courtesy of TravelChannel.com)

He visited several places in town but the challenge portion is at Sweet P's BBQ. I've had Sweet P's before when they catered our neighborhood pool party a few years ago. They made pretty good BBQ, I remember liking the brisket and hot wings. In talking with them I found out they had made the wings on a Big Green Egg. No surprise that I liked them!

I'm looking forward to seeing his visit to Ktown. Check it out this Wednesday.

  2. Though I generally find most of the current Food Network lineup to be pretty silly and unappealing, for some reason I love Richman's Man v. Food episodes. I wonder what the challenge at Sweet P's was?

In any event, it is pretty darn impressive how much food that guy can intake.

  3. Watching this show makes me sad. What a waste of food.

  4. I'm so glad you mentioned this! I didn't know, and I JUST saw my first Man v Food episode last week. I agree, it's hard for me to watch someone stuff that much food in his mouth (for time, to boot!) but he is very charismatic and fun to watch! I will def. check out his Knox-vegas visit! BTW, any stirrings on a potential get-together for local bloggers?? Let me know!

  6. That show seems interesting from what you've said...

    Man vs Food...Wow!!!

Not in Food Network? Travel...then we get to see places too... I bet I'm gonna love that show.

  7. I don't watch this show, but I did catch a couple of them back to back recently at a nail shop while I was there and gotta say, this guy is nuts. One of them was him eating a something like 8 pound burrito, of which he made it through 5 pounds before giving up I think. The other one was some ungodly amount of really spicy hot wings I think. Even though I could do a number at my parents house over the holidays back in the day, I could not imagine stuffing myself with food like this guy! He must be sick as a dog for days after.

    Have a great week!

  9. My family loves Man vs. Food! I have trouble watching him finish the challenges, sometimes...he looks like he is going to explode!

For those of you interested in watching Man vs. Food, it is not on the Food Network. It airs on The Travel Channel.

I'll be watching on Wednesday, Chris! Thanks for the heads up..

  11. Though I find it hard to watch Man vs Food sometimes... I mean it's hard to watch someone try and eat 50lbs of eggs and bacon in 30 minutes...BUT.. I still find myself watching it every now and then: Like an accident on the side of the road that you can't look away from!! I'll have to check it on on Wednesday, thanks for the heads up!

  13. My Dad loves this show! He always fills me in on what Adam's eating and even suggested a few recipes from it that I made for him. I think it's kind of sick the way he gorges himself...

  16. I have missed him in several areas of the country by days, but have tasted his favorite foods...I cannot imagine the amounts he eats...like Guy F. on Diners, Drive-ins, and Dives...

  17. I love that show, my whole family watches it! My boys dream about following him around and eating everything he does, and they probably could (at least put together) - My 16 year old is 6'1' 240 pounds, he could handle the amounts of food, and my 13 year old can chomp down habanero peppers straight off the plant - I sometimes wonder if there is seriously something wrong with that boy!

  18. We've never had Adam roll through Jax but I do know that Guy Fieri has visited some local eateries a few times - one in particular is Singleton's (you're probably familiar with the place!).

  19. I'm finally getting Man vs Food up here in Canada and I am LOVING this show. I want to sample so many restaurants he goes to, but I could not eat the volume of food he takes on.

Man vs Food is my new fave tv show!
